Open Science Image Research Software
The OSIRiS Group
The role of the OSIRiS group is to implement methodology developed by ourselves and our collaborators as tools and software libraries accessible to the broad community. Our software engineering efforts include three directions: development of turn-key applications for clinical users, development of software libraries to be integrated or distributed in parallel with the Insight Toolkit or other software libraries, and the development of in-house processes for data management and study design.
End-user Applications
Collaboration requires the translation of technology to user-friendly software packages. To this end members of our group have participated in the creation of such packages as ITK-SNAP, a widely used image navigation and segmentation tool; InSANE (aka BrainTracer), which combines the ability to partition the cortex along sulcal curves, to flatten the cortex and to visualize patterns of functional activation in and around the cortex; and Camino, a free, open source toolkit for diffusion MR simulation, reconstruction, and processing.
Libraries
In-depth knowledge of well-known software packages such as SPM, VoxBo, and the Insight Toolkit are essential to our research. Our lab also supports the development of such packages by incorporating our own contributions. Not only does this allow for the promotion of our group but it also promotes an open science atmosphere within the research community.
